Why America

Why a salvage motorcycle from America?

Low price

In America, a Harley with a tip-over, scratches or a broken mirror is often much cheaper than an undamaged one. Even with the repair included, the difference can be big.

Honest about the damage

With every bike you get the auction’s damage description, the type of Title, the history on the VIN and our own video. So you know what you are buying before you decide.

For private buyers and dealers

Private buyers get a salvage motorcycle to repair themselves or have repaired. Dealers can buy more often; ask about the options.

Repairs in the Netherlands

Repairs can be done at our partner workshop Thundercycle in Ochten, the Netherlands, so the bike is ready for inspection and registration.

What damage?

Which damage we accept and which we don't

Usually light damage

A tip-over with scratches on the tank or saddlebags, a broken mirror, lever, indicator or silencer, a cracked windscreen or torn seat. These are the bikes we offer most often.

Be careful

Damage to the frame, forks, steering head or wheels. It can look minor in the photos, but it is expensive to repair and critical at the inspection. We only offer such a bike when we can assess the damage properly.

We don’t buy

Flood damage, fire damage, bikes with a Certificate of Destruction, Non-Repairable or Parts Only Title, and bikes where the engine number or the papers do not match.

How it works

Buying a salvage motorcycle: how it works

  1. You choose a bike. Every salvage motorcycle comes with the damage description, the type of Title, the history on the VIN and our video.
  2. You get the all-in price. The price is in dollars and includes shipping to the port of Rotterdam. Feel free to ask for a calculation with unloading, customs, VAT and an estimate of the repair.
  3. You pay by invoice. You receive one invoice for the bike and one for the transport, and pay to the company’s US business account.
  4. Shipping. We collect the bike and ship it to Rotterdam. From New York that takes about 4 weeks.
  5. Repair and inspection. Once in Europe, you have the bike repaired, for example at Thundercycle in Ochten, and then inspected for registration. In the Netherlands that is the RDW inspection.

Salvage Title: what does it mean?

Most bikes at Copart have a Salvage Title: the insurer declared the bike a total loss. In the Netherlands such a bike can be registered, but it has to be repaired first and the inspection is stricter. Rules in other EU countries differ. Read all about the differences in Salvage Title on a Harley.
