Screen: 8 inch or 7 inch

You see the first difference straight away in the fairing. The V2 has an 8" HD screen, the WHD14+ a 7" QLCD screen. Both reach 1000 nits, so the WHD14+ is also easy to read in full sun and usable with gloves.

You notice the V2's larger screen mainly when you want to see navigation, music and gauges at the same time. If you mostly use the screen for Google Maps or Spotify through CarPlay, 7 inches is plenty for most riders.

Gauges and connection to your bike

With an iDatalink Maestro module you connect the radio to your Harley's electronics. You then see digital gauges on the screen, such as oil pressure, fuel and engine temperature, with warnings if something is wrong.

  • V2: up to 10 gauges on the screen and compatibility with the original Boom and HD Audio amplifiers. At Harley's Enzo the Maestro module is included in the price as standard, in the right version (MRR or RR2) for your bike.
  • WHD14+: works as a CarPlay and Android Auto radio out of the box. If you also want the gauges on the screen, or your bike has original Boom amplifiers, you add the WHD.UNLOC upgrade kit. We supply it with the radio.

The advantage of the WHD14+: you can start simple and expand later. If you want the gauges anyway, include the WHD.UNLOC when you compare prices.

Headsets and riding in a group

Do you often ride with a passenger? Then this is an important difference. The V2 supports two wireless headsets, for rider and passenger. That way you both hear the music, the navigation and phone calls.

Both radios have Rally Mode: it lets you share your music with other riders in your group. Ideal for club rides and tours.

Sound

Both radios have a built-in 4-channel amplifier that is 2-ohm stable. That gives more volume and less distortion than the original Harley radio. The V2 has a 15-band digital equaliser, the WHD14+ a 13-band equaliser with crossovers. With both you can tune the sound to your speakers and riding speed; the V2 gives you a little more fine-tuning.

Navigation in Europe

No difference here. On both radios you navigate in Europe through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, with Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps. That is always up to date. The built-in iGo navigation of both models has maps of the US and Canada. Want to know more? Read navigating on your Harley: CarPlay radio, motorcycle GPS or phone.

What is the same?

  • Plug-and-play: fits the original fairing and the original connector. You can always go back to the old radio.
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto and Bluetooth.
  • Handlebar controls keep working.
  • 1000-nit screen, usable with gloves.
  • IPx5 water-resistant front panel and a camera input.
  • Suitable for Harley Touring 2014-2023. Neither fits Touring models from model year 2024.

Which one is for you?

Choose the V2 if you

  • often ride with a passenger and want to pair two headsets
  • want the gauges on the screen straight away, without an extra kit
  • have original Boom amplifiers on your bike
  • want the biggest screen and a 5-year warranty

Choose the WHD14+ if you

  • mainly want wireless CarPlay or Android Auto
  • ride solo or don't need headsets for two
  • are looking for a lower price
  • prefer to start small and expand later with the WHD.UNLOC
