Why Fatty Forty wheels for your Harley?
- 40 thick spokes: a bold big spoke look that still looks calm and classic.
- Stainless steel spokes: just like the Mammoth. They don't rust and stay looking good, even after wet rides and a winter in the garage.
- A little more affordable than the Mammoth 52, with the same DNA Specialty quality.
- For all Harley-Davidson models: Softail, Dyna, Touring, Sportster and older models.
- Front wheel, rear wheel or a complete set, in the same sizes as the Mammoth.
16 inch Fatty Forty: open and airy
The smaller the wheel, the closer together the spokes sit. On a Mammoth with 52 spokes, a 16 inch wheel therefore looks very full. The Fatty Forty has 40 spokes, so there is more space between them. Especially on a smaller wheel such as 16 inch, that gives an open, airy look that suits it better. The wheel looks calmer and you see more of the hub and the tyres.
In the photos below you see a Softail with a 16 inch Fatty Forty front and rear, combined with whitewall tyres. Together they give the bike a true classic look. If you want 16 inch wheels on your Harley, the Fatty Forty is our recommendation.

Fatty Forty or Mammoth 52: which suits you?
Both wheels come from DNA Specialty, have stainless steel spokes and are available for every Harley. The difference is mainly in the look and the price.

Want as many spokes as possible and the most eye-catching look? Then look at the DNA Mammoth 52 fat spoke wheels. Prefer a slightly cleaner, more classic look, or want to spend a little less? Then the Fatty Forty is a good choice.
Sizes: 16, 18, 21, 23 and 26 inch
The Fatty Forty comes in the same sizes as the Mammoth: 16, 18, 21, 23 and 26 inch. DNA does not make other sizes, such as 17 or 19 inch. If you choose 16 inch, the open look of the Fatty Forty shows at its best. On a Softail, many riders choose a 21 inch front wheel with an 18 inch rear wheel. On a Touring such as a Road King or Street Glide, a big 21 or 23 inch front wheel is popular.

Every Harley has a different hub and different bearings
Over the years Harley-Davidson has used many different axles, bearings, brake discs and drives. As a result, almost every year, type and model needs a different hub. That applies to the Fatty Forty exactly as it does to the Mammoth.
- ABS: if your bike has ABS, an ABS bearing goes into the wheel, in both the front and the rear wheel.
- Wheel size: the bearings are matched to the size of the wheel. A bearing for an 18 inch wheel does not fit a 21 inch wheel.
- Brake discs: a single or dual front disc needs a different hub.
That is why there is no fixed price on this page. We work out which version fits your bike and send you a tailored quote.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Fatty Forty and the Mammoth?
The Fatty Forty has 40 thick spokes, the Mammoth 52. The Fatty Forty therefore looks calmer and more classic, and is a little more affordable. Sizes, quality and the stainless steel spokes are the same.
Which wheel looks better in 16 inch?
The Fatty Forty. With 40 spokes there is more space between the spokes on a small wheel, so the wheel looks open and airy. A Mammoth with 52 spokes looks very full in 16 inch.
Are the spokes stainless steel?
Yes. The Fatty Forty's spokes are stainless steel, just like the Mammoth wheels.
Which sizes are available?
The Fatty Forty comes in 16, 18, 21, 23 and 26 inch. DNA does not make a 17 or 19 inch wheel.
Does a Fatty Forty fit my Touring?
Yes. There are Fatty Forty wheels for all Harley-Davidson models, including Touring models such as the Road King, Street Glide and Electra Glide. We check which hub fits your bike.
Why is there no price on the site?
The price depends on the size, the finish (chrome or black) and the hub and bearings your bike needs. Send us your model and year and you get a tailored quote.
Does it matter whether my bike has ABS?
Yes. If your bike has ABS, an ABS bearing goes into the wheel, in both the front and the rear wheel. So always mention it in your request.
Can I order just a front wheel?
Yes. You can order a single front wheel, a single rear wheel or a complete set.
