The best-known Big Dog models
Chopper and K-9
The long choppers with a 21-inch front wheel and a wide rear tyre. The rear looks like a hardtail, but they have hidden rear suspension. The most recognisable face of Big Dog.
Pitbull and Ridgeback
True hardtails without rear suspension: low, stripped and the rawest bikes in the line-up. For riders who want the classic chopper shape.
Mastiff, Bulldog and Wolf
The more cruiser-like models, with a less extreme front end. More comfortable on longer rides, but still with the typical Big Dog look and a big S&S V-twin.
Registration and costs
Engine, parts and registration
Big Dogs from the 2000s have an air-cooled S&S V-twin, usually 107 or 117 cubic inch, with belt drive. S&S Cycle is still in business and many parts are readily available; a large share interchange with Harley parts.
Big Dog is its own make and every bike has its own US Title in the Big Dog name. You register it with your national vehicle authority. In the Netherlands, for example, a Big Dog up to model year 2005 is inspected at a regular RDW station, just like a Harley; from 2006 it goes through RDW Lelystad, which is more expensive. Other countries have their own rules, so check with your authority or ask us.
The bike arrives in Rotterdam, and from there transport to your address in Belgium, Germany or elsewhere in Europe can be arranged. After arrival you pay for unloading, the customs declaration, import duty and VAT. Duty and VAT depend on the vehicle and your country; ask us for a calculation.

Is a Big Dog a Harley-Davidson?
No. Big Dog Motorcycles from Wichita, Kansas, is its own make that built complete custom motorcycles from 1994 to 2011. The engine is an S&S V-twin, and many parts interchange with Harley parts.
Can I register a Big Dog in Europe?
Yes. Big Dog is its own make with its own US Title, and you register it with your national vehicle authority. In the Netherlands, for example, a Big Dog up to model year 2005 is inspected at a regular RDW station; from 2006 it goes through RDW Lelystad. Rules differ per country, so ask us if you are unsure.

Not in person, but every Big Dog is filmed: a walkaround and a start-up. You also get the Carfax or damage report before you pay.
How long does shipping take?
About 4 weeks from New York, about 2 months from Los Angeles.
How do I pay, and is it safe?
You first receive an invoice. You then pay into the company’s US business account, not a personal account.
